BOSTON (AP) - A Boston woman has been charged with vehicular homicide after her cousin was dragged by an SUV and then hit by a cab.
Brianna Smith was arraigned Tuesday in the death of 28-year-old Cusandra Webb.
Authorities say Webb got into an altercation with a woman in her group early Sunday outside a Boston diner.
Court documents show Smith double parked Webb’s SUV and Webb tried to enter the vehicle by reaching through the driver side window.
Prosecutors say Smith drove off, dragging Webb about 75 feet. A taxi then hit Webb as she lay in the street. She died early Monday.
Authorities say Smith had a blood-alcohol content of 0.10, just above the legal limit.
Smith’s lawyer, Chris Kenney, calls the incident “a very tragic accident.”
