DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) - A veteran Northern California sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured when struck by an inmate-transport bus driven by a colleague.
Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahearn said the 60-year-old deputy was struck by a bus driven by another deputy while reporting to work Wednesday and walking through the jail’s employee parking lot in Dublin, about 35 miles southeast of San Francisco.
Sheriff Greg Ahearn says Foley is being treated for head injuries and is listed in critical condition. Ahearn said Foley was wearing dark clothing and the bus was traveling at about 15 mph when it struck him. The bus didn’t have inmates aboard.
Foley is a nine-year veteran of the department and previously worked for 30 years as a Concord Police officer.
