MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Montgomery man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 64-year-old man who died more than two weeks after he was attacked with a brick.

Court documents say 36-year-old Willie Addison III beat Broderick Shields in the head and face with a brick on Jan. 15 in Montgomery.

Media outlets report that Shields died of his injuries Monday, prompting authorities to take Addison into custody and charge him with murder. He had been previously charged with first-degree assault in connection with the attack.

Police have not given a motive for the beating. It is unclear whether Addison has an attorney.
