RENO, Nev. (AP) - A western Nevada man has been found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol in a crash that left his wife dead.
Sixty-two-year-old Murphy Williams was convicted of DUI resulting in death last week in connection with the 2015 crash. He faces two to 20 years in prison.
The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says Williams was driving with his wife in the passenger seat when he ran through a stop sign and struck another vehicle.
Williams’ wife was ejected from the car and died.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries.
Williams claimed during trial that his brakes had failed.
Prosecutors say his blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit at the time of the collision.
