BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital after an apparent attempted murder-suicide in Baton Rouge.
Multiple media outlets report Baton Rouge Police say the shooting happened Tuesday about 11:18 a.m.
Sgt. L’Jean McKneely Jr. says the man, identified as 29-year-old Daniel Johnson, shot his 34-year-old girlfriend before turning the gun on himself. The woman, whose name has not been released, is in critical condition.

McKneely says Johnson, who lived in St. Francisville, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The incident remains under investigation.
