BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man who spent 20 years behind bars for murder is a free man after his conviction was thrown out.

Cory Epps was released from custody Friday, after Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said newly discovered evidence cast doubt on whether Epps was guilty.

A jury convicted the now-46-year-old for the 1997 murder of 23-year-old Tomika Means, who was shot to death in a car in Buffalo. But earlier this year, a witness came forward to say someone else killed Means. That suspect is already serving a prison sentence for another murder.
