White House Legislative Director Marc Short said Wednesday that he expects votes on the tax bill will happen early next week.

“The expectation is exactly that. The conferees hopefully sign the report, hopefully tomorrow, that legislation will be finalized in final text done over the weekend and that we’ll have votes on the House and Senate floor early next week,” Mr. Short said on Fox Business.

Republicans have long said they plan to pass the tax bill and have it on the president’s desk by the Christmas holiday. They also have to pass a spending bill, or another continuing resolution, by Dec. 22 to avoid a government shutdown.
