HOUMA, La. (AP) - Prosecutors say a Louisiana politician falsified his address to qualify for reflection last year and is ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution.

The Courier reports former Lafourche parish councilman John Arnold pleaded guilty Tuesday over two criminal mischief counts, was placed on two years unsupervised probation and also fined $500 plus court costs. District Attorney Cam Morvant II said in a statement the 42-year-old has paid half the restitution with the rest due before probation ends.

Arnold was arrested in February 2016 and charged with two election offense counts. He’d used a Gray address that he didn’t live at to qualify for a seat covering Bayou Blue and parts of Pointe-aux-Chenes and Raceland.
