A federal judge on Monday sentenced a former Prince George’s County school aide to 75 years in prison for sexually abusing children and producing child pornography.

In U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Judge Deborah K. Chasanow imposed the sentence against Deonte Carraway, 23, of Glenarden.

He had worked as a teacher’s aide at Judge Sylvania W. Woods Elementary School in Glenarden.

In January, Carraway pleaded guilty to 15 federal charges of sexual exploitation of a minor to produce child pornography, admitting that he had coerced 12 children between the ages 9 and 13 to perform sex acts with himself and with one another.

According to court documents, Carraway video-recorded the sex acts at the elementary school or the Glenarden Community Center, where he directed a youth choir, between Oct. 11, 2015, and Feb. 1, 2016.

He also recorded some of the children in their homes.

Investigators said Carraway communicated with his victims via a telephone app called Kik, which allows users to share videos and exchange messages while hiding their identities.

In his plea deal, he admitted to forming a “club” with the children and told anyone who wanted to join to send him graphic material via Kik.

A relative of one of the victims reportedly found explicit photos on the child’s cellphone and alerted authorities.

Carraway also faces 270 state charges of sexual abuse and child pornography. A date for his trial in Prince George’s County has not yet been set.

Meanwhile, the county school system is dealing with several lawsuits regarding Carraway’s crime, including a class-action lawsuit filed by the victims’ families.
