A stuntwoman died Monday after being injured on the Canadian set of “Deadpool 2,” authorities said.
“Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of ’Deadpool’ during a stunt on a motorcycle,” the police agency said in a statement, Variety reported Monday.
WorkSafeBC, the occupational safety agency for the province of British Columbia, has sent investigators to the filming location, a spokeswoman said, Variety reported.
“Deadpool 2,” starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular foul-mouthed assassin, is slated for a June 1 wide release in North America next year, according to the Internet Movie Database.
Mr. Reynolds took to his Twitter account Monday afternoon to express his condolences.
“Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming ’Deadpool,’” he said. “We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated … but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them — along with each and every person she touched in this world.”
