PROVO, Utah (AP) - A man has been sentenced to spend up to life in the Utah State Prison for killing his ex-wife’s husband.
The Daily Herald reported (https://bit.ly/2wiJtvH ) Monday that 62-year-old Fred Lee received the maximum sentence for all four charges against him.
Lee is accused of confessing to officers that he fatally shot Mike Sidwell in July 2014.

He is accused of going to his ex-wife Joy Sidwell’s house with intentions of killing her. When Mike Sidwell answered the door and said she wasn’t home, Lee is accused of shooting him in the head.
Lee was in custody at the Utah State Hospital for much of his case undergoing competency restoration therapy. Lee suffered a traumatic head injury in his mid-20s, which the judge acknowledges might have impacted his cognitive capacity, but says is no excuse to take a life.
