JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Two Gulfport, Mississippi men have been sentenced for preparing fraudulent tax returns.
Acting U.S. Attorney Harold Brittain says Allen Brice was sentenced to 63 months in prison for seven counts of aiding in the preparation of false tax returns. In addition, Jeremi Washington was sentenced to 46 months after pleading guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States.
Brittain, in a news release earlier this week, said Washington owned and operated Flash Financial and Brice was his sole employee. Court documents show that from 2009 through 2011, the men filed fraudulent returns that included bogus education expenses and retirement contributions, which were never discussed with their clients.
Brice was ordered to pay restitution to the IRS in the amount of $1.91 million, while Washington was ordered to pay $1.95 million.
