BEAVER, Utah (AP) - The Beaver County sheriff has been cleared of wrongdoing following a lengthy investigation into allegations of excessive force.
KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2cGEafn ) that the U.S. Department of Justice said they found no evidence to go forward with the allegations made against Sheriff Cameron Noel.
Noel had been accused of yelling at a suspect, head-butting him and biting him after making an arrest for murder. Two other deputies reported seeing the excessive force.
Along with the Department of Justice, the Utah Attorney General’s Office, the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training, and Millard County all investigated the excessive force claim.
Noel says he was confident the investigation would clear him but that he is relieved it is over.
