MCCORMICK, S.C. (AP) - An inmate has been killed at one of the state’s high security prisons.
South Carolina Department of Corrections spokesman Dexter Lee tells The State (https://bit.ly/2dt0c7u) that the male prisoner was killed Sunday during a fight with another inmate at McCormick Correctional Institution in McCormick. The man hasn’t been identified pending notification of family.
The incident triggered a lockdown of the prison.
Authorities haven’t released details like how the inmate was killed.
The investigation is ongoing.
