WYCKOFF, N.J. (AP) - A former church pastor who engaged in sexual activity with teenage girls in a church youth group he oversaw is now headed to prison.

David Hayman received a six-year sentence Friday and also must register as a sex offender. The 38-year-old Hayman had pleaded guilty in June to sexual assault and child endangerment charges.

Authorities have said Hayman engaged in sexual activity and exchanged sexually explicit videos with two 16-year-old girls in the Cornerstone Christian Church’s youth group. He also texted explicit messages to two other girls, ages 15 and 16.

A married father of three, Hayman was dismissed by the church in Wyckoff in 2014, when its leaders learned of the text messages. The sex assaults came to light during a subsequent investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
