When Team USA announced their World Cup of Hockey roster in May, a great deal of highly skilled playmakers were left off of the roster because they didn’t play the physical-style of hockey head coach John Tortorella wanted.
One of those players was Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel. Kessel was not only fifth among all American players eligible for the roster in scoring last year, with 59 points, but he has a proven record of success for Team USA, scoring 14 goals in his last 26 games wearing a USA sweater.
The United States could have used that scoring. After falling 4-2 to Team Canada, the Team USA was eliminated after its first two games of group competition. That caused Kessel to fire this tweet into the Twittersphere.

Kessel’s not normally much of a tweeter. It was just his third tweet of 2016, but it was an incredibly solid jab.
