Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler’s night ended in the third quarter after throwing an interception to Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham.
Cutler left the Monday night game with a right thumb injury, an injury that he says affected the way he gripped the ball.
At his postgame press conference, Cutler was wearing a protective cast over his thumb.

“I’m concerned,” Cutler said after the game, according to ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson. “As a quarterback, you need your right thumb.”
Cutler’s thumb is far from his only problem. Cutler has gone 6-11 in his last 17 games, throwing 13 interceptions in that same span.
His interceptions are starting to really tick off his teammates. After his most recent one, Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee, who is on the physically unable to perform list, was seen barking at a very disappointed Cutler on the sideline.

“I’m fine with that,” Cutler said. “He’s a passionate guy. Everyone has a lot invested into this, and he does as well. No one likes to lose. No one likes to lose in that fashion. He’s upset. I’m upset. Everyone in that locker room is upset right now. But, the good thing is that we have a lot of good guys in there, and we have a bunch of good coaches, and we have 14 games left.”
Since Cutler joined the Bears in 2010, Chicago has gone 48-50. The Bears haven’t had a winning season since 2012, they recorded double-digit losses in two straight seasons and look to be on the same path this season.
Cutler better hope his thumb heals up soon, or the Bears may look for a different option.
