Fans of an online group named “the Betsy Riot” — devoted to “decentralized civil disobedience against gun culture” — are apparently plastering anti-gun stickers on copies of a conservative radio host’s book.
“Haha, apparently anti-gun zealots are defacing my first book, #HandsOffMyGun at stores,” tweeted Dana Loesch, an NRA spokeswoman on Tuesday, referring to her 2014 tome.
“Photo of anti-gun zealots defacing my book at stores… Modern day book burners, lol,” Mrs. Loesch added minutes later, retweeting user @celestepewter, who wrote, “#gunvote This woman sells guns to abusers. 25 women died by guns @DLoesch their partners shot them in Aug.”
Attached to Ms. Pewter’s Sept. 14 tweet was a photo showing the Loesch book plastered with three “Betsy Riot” stickers with messages like “Melt the guns” and “F— your guns.”
On their website, the organizers for Betsy Riot urge sympathetic readers to “Get started betsyin’!”
“Organize your friends. F—k up gun culture,” the website adds.
“We’ve made some downloadable mailing label templates that you can print at home. Of course, you would never do anything like stick them in parks, on changing tables, in dressing rooms, or on NRA bumper stickers because that would probably be illegal and extremely naughty, you terrible girl. How could you even think such a thing?”
