Nick Gordon, the allegedly abusive boyfriend of pop singer Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been judged responsible in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Brown family, E! News reported Friday.

The verdict came after, for the second time in the course of the lawsuit, Mr. Gordon was a no-show in Judge T. Jackson Bedford’s Atlanta courtroom, the entertainment-news outlet reported.

Mr. Gordon, the lawsuit alleges, physically abused Ms. Brown before placing her unconscious and face-down in a water-filled bathtub and administering by injection with a “toxic mixture,”  E! News reported.

An autopsy showed Brown had morphine, cocaine, alcohol and prescription drugs in her body at the time of her death, but the medical examiner couldn’t determine whether her death was accidental or if she or someone else was responsible.

No criminal charges have been filed against Mr. Gordon.
