Former Washington Redskin and current Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III fractured his coracoid bone in his left shoulder and be re-evaluated three or four weeks.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the injury could be season-ending for Griffin. The Browns placed Griffin on injured reserve on Monday.
Griffin will miss his return to Washington when the Browns visit the Redskins in Week 4 on Sunday, Oct. 2.
“It’s very unfortunate,” Browns head coach Hue Jackson said in a released statement. “Robert came in and has worked extremely hard to learn our offense and earn the respect of his teammates. This is a tough loss because everyone has seen how invested he has been in this team and his dedication to the work needed to improve his craft.”
Griffin sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Griffin scrambled toward the sideline but took a hard hit up high by cornerback Jalen Mills.
