PROVO, Utah (AP) - Provo and Orem residents are taking their fight against a new bus route back to district court.
The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2f0HOCr) that protesters are not giving up despite the Utah Supreme Court’s denial of a request for a writ to order a ballot referendum on the matter.
In the ruling, the high court says the petitioners should have taken the issue to district court first.
The Supreme Court rejected a request for an injunction against the project earlier this month.
The group had asked that work on the $190 million bus rapid transit route stop while their lawsuit to permanently end the project goes through court.
Opponents want voters in the November 2017 election to decide whether to let lease agreements for a portion of the project remain.
