Redskins LT Trent Williams’ left knee ‘structurally sound’

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden says an MRI shows that left tackle Trent Williams’ left knee is “structurally OK.”

Speaking to reporters Monday, Gruden called the information about his Pro Bowl offensive lineman “good news”, but added that Williams will need to be monitored during the week.

Williams left Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions after injuring his knee.

In other injury news from that game, Gruden said cornerback Josh Norman is in the concussion protocol, right guard Brandon Scherff sprained his shoulder, and cornerback Bashaud Breeland sprained his left ankle.

Also, tight end Jordan Reed, who missed the past two games with a concussion, has been cleared to return to practice Wednesday.

But Gruden cautioned that doesn’t necessarily mean Reed will be able to play next Sunday, when Washington (4-3) faces the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) in London.
