LITCHFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Torrington’s former superintendent of streets is set to make his first court appearance since being charged with stealing and selling city-owned granite curbstone over a number of years.
Robert Lizotte is scheduled to be arraigned on a felony larceny charge Monday in Bantam Superior Court in Litchfield.
The 60-year-old Lizotte of Bethlehem was arrested Oct. 12, after police said they investigated anonymous letters sent to the mayor that accused city employees including Lizotte of stealing city property.
Lizotte retired earlier this month after being placed on administrative leave. Calls to a phone listing for Lizotte have gone unanswered, and his lawyer didn’t return a message.
Torrington police say they were only able to seize granite involved in two illegal sales, out of numerous sales reported in recent years.
