LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) - A Democratic state representative from Littleton wants to strengthen New Hampshire’s new law against the sex trafficking of children.
The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/2ekcf9O ) Rep. Linda Massimilla has proposed legislation that she says would close loopholes in the law, which took effect in January.
Massimilla said among them is the stipulation that traffickers can plead to a lesser offense if they claim to have not known the actual age of the victim. Massimilla says age is important in these cases, because victims believed to be over 18 would result in a buyer being charged with soliciting prostitution, a lesser crime.
