NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The owner of a convenience store has been shot to death in New Haven.

New Haven Police say 21-year-old Muhanad Jawad was working at his shop on Monday afternoon when he was shot and killed by a gunman. They say they do not believe robbery was the motive.

Police say they received information that a Honda CRV was involved. The car turned out to be stolen and they chased it, apprehending three people. A fourth person got away and jumped into a marsh.

Police say that person was also eventually apprehended, after they got help in the search from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Police say the people in the car are not necessarily related to the shooting, and they’re not releasing their names.
