WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a New York man shot to death at a crime-ridden apartment complex for low-income residents in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Luzerne County coroner’s office said Monday that 32-year-old Victor Grandy of Far Rockaway, New York, was killed by a gunshot wound to the chest. The death was ruled a homicide.
Police were called to the Sherman Hills Apartments in Wilkes-Barre at about 8 p.m. Sunday, where they found the victim dead. Investigators said Grandy had been involved in an argument with one or more men that escalated into a shooting. No arrests were immediately announced.
The complex has been the scene of homicides and other violent crimes in recent years. Federal officials have warned that housing subsidies are at risk if security concerns aren’t addressed.
