AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine’s moose hunters will have to lay off the big animals for several days while some of the state’s other popular hunting seasons kick into high gear.

The state’s moose hunt is broken up into several sessions in different parts of the state. The next session is based mostly in far northern Maine and runs from Oct. 24 to 29.

Meanwhile, the archery season for deer is happening now and lasts until Oct. 28. The firearms season for deer runs from Halloween until Nov. 26.



The bear hunting season is also active now and runs until Nov. 26.

The state’s fox hunt begins on Monday and runs until the end of February.
