NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Water officials in New Haven are asking neighbors and business in the region to reduce their water usage by 10 percent due to ongoing drought conditions.
The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority says drought conditions in the region are expected to continue through at least the end of this year. The agency serves about 430,000 people.
Officials say they want customers to check for dripping faucets or running toilets and take showers instead of baths.
They say customers should turn off the faucet during teeth brushings and place dirty dishes into dishwashers instead of handwashing them.
Other ways to reduce water usage include washing full loads of clothes and using brooms instead of hoses to clean patios, sidewalks and driveways.
