SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. (AP) - New Jersey Transit service has resumed on the Pascack Valley Line after one of its commuter trains struck and killed a man in New York.

NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith says it happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday soon after the train, with ten passengers and crew members, had left the Spring Valley Station headed for Hoboken.

Pascack Valley service was suspended in both directions for more than two and a half hours. NJ Transit and private bus carriers accepted NJ Transit tickets.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is investigating.
