LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Hunters in the Mohave Valley killed dozens of coyotes at this year’s annual coyote hunt.

Today’s News-Herald of Lake Havasu City reports (https://bit.ly/2eRyUre ) that Sunday’s gathering netted more than 30 coyotes, five bobcats and as many as seven kit foxes.

The fourth annual hunt attracted dozens of licensed Mohave Valley hunters for a competition in the hills and desert surrounding Lake Havasu.

Robert Hunter of RTT Firearms, which hosted the hunt, says killing coyotes and other predators is necessary for the safety of other wildlife as well as humans in the Havasu region.
