CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A football coach in the Charlotte area has been arrested and charged with assaulting a female.
Multiple media outlets reported that Mecklenburg County sheriff’s records show that 43-year-old Brian Hales of Butler High School in Matthews was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
A police report said Hales and a 30-year-old woman got into an argument that turned physical. Police say the woman suffered minor bruises and scratches and refused medical treatment. No other details were immediately available.
It was not clear if Hales has a lawyer.
Hales is in his sixth season at Butler’s head football coach. He has a record of 67 wins and 13 losses. The team is 10 and 1 this season. The team won the state championship in 2012.
