Three people were injured inside a Florida senior center by a squirrel running amok this week.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon at the Sterling Court apartments in Deltona, north of Orlando, and resulted in one of its residents needing 11 stitches, WFTV 9 reported.

“We had a squirrel that entered our building, and it’s in our activity room, and it’s jumping on people and biting them and scratching them,” a woman is heard telling emergency dispatchers in a 911 phone call recording obtained by the ABC affiliate.

“We need help,” the caller says from a nearby room. “We need some care for people here. It’s still in there and people are bleeding.”

Various voices are heard in the background offering updates on the senior center’s developing squirrel situation, including “The squirrel is still in here,” and “I feel lightheaded! I don’t feel good!”

“We need help for the people — it’s not about the squirrel,” the caller says at one point.

One of the rodent’s victims, Phyllis Thrush, required 11 stitches after suffering bites and claws from the squirrel attack, WFTV reported.

“A lady had a bad place on her forehead where he had jumped on her. Another lady had scratches on her hand, so we all got it at once,” she told the news station. “They were all screaming their heads off trying to get the squirrel out. It was a mess.”

The squirrel was thrown out of the building during the course of 911 call, according to the woman who dialed authorities, but not before injuring no fewer than three people. The senior center has since put up traps outside in hopes of catching the culprit, WFTV reported.
