CODY, Wyo. (AP) - A former Douglas and Cody special education teacher has been sentenced to four to five years of supervised probation for having sex with an underage student.
The Cody Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/2emBYKA ) that District Judge John Brooks handed down the sentence against Katie Marcus on Thursday.
Marcus had pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual molestation of a minor as part of a plea agreement that recommended the supervised probation.
Brooks outlined a lengthy list of stipulations of Marcus’ probation and lectured her about her behavior and future. Marcus also was ordered to pay about $2,600 in restitution.
The victim, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime, is now an adult who lives out of state. Prosecutors say the victim felt the plea agreement was appropriate.
