The FBI reportedly has closed its investigation into actor Brad Pitt’s alleged Sept. 14 altercation with his eldest son aboard the family’s private jet.

“In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation,” FBI Los Angeles field office spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said, Reuters reported Wednesday. “No charges have been filed in this matter.”

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Department of Child Protective Services similarly closed its investigation into Mr. Pitt’s alleged Sept. 14 altercation with eldest son Maddox on board the family’s private jet. DCPS found no evidence of abuse, The Associated Press reported.

Mr. Pitt’s wife, actress Angelina Jolie, filed for divorce shortly after the incident. The two have since reached a custody arrangement granting Ms. Jolie sole custody of their children but permitting “therapeutic visits” to Mr. Pitt, AP reported.

Shortly after news broke of Hollywood power couple’s split, various Hollywood gossip sites reported an alleged affair between Mr. Pitt and French actress Marion Cotillard to be the reason for the broken marriage.

For her part, Ms. Cotillard denied she had a sexual relationship with Mr. Pitt, with whom she stars in the World War II spy thriller, “Allied,” which premieres in U.S. movie theaters Wednesday.
