Rail travel between Wilmington and Philadelphia was suspended briefly Wednesday afternoon after a person trespassing on the railroad tracks was fatally struck by an Amtrak train.

According to CBS Philadelphia, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. No injuries were reported on board the train. Rail traffic resumed a little over an hour later.

“Service has resumed btwn Wilmington/Newark, though trains are operating at reduced speed using one of the three tracks in the area,” Amtrak tweeted from its Amtrak Northeast account at 4:53 p.m.

“Customers may experience congestion-related delays in both directions,” the passenger-rail service added a minute later. “We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
