A pro-Clinton super PAC is asking supporters on its Facebook page if a “revolution” is in order given Hillary Clinton’s growing popular vote lead over President-elect Donald Trump.
“Is this worth starting a revolution about??” asked the Balance of Power PAC on its “Hillary Clinton for President Supporters” Facebook page Monday night, linking to story by The Independent newspaper out of the U.K. headlined, “Hillary Clinton 1.7 million votes ahead of Donald Trump.”
While the group’s Facebook page says its “goal is to help deliver to President Clinton a Congress that believes in constructive solutions and Progressive policies that are good for all Americans,” Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports indicate the super PAC spent nothing in the 2016 election cycle toward that end.
According to its October quarterly report, filed on Sept. 30, Balance of Power PAC spent precisely zero dollars in “independent expenditures” in the 2016 calendar year as well as zero dollars for “federal election activity,” which includes things like voter-registration drives and get-out-the-vote activities as well as “public communication that … promotes, supports, attacks, or opposes any federal candidate.”
The same is true in 2015 and 2014, according to end-of-year reports available online at the FEC’s website.
Balance of Power PAC was last in the headlines in September, when ZDNet confirmed that the group had been the victim of a data breach exposing donor data including “names, email addresses, home addresses, occupations, and phone numbers” in addition to donation amounts and payment methods, said ZDNet.
The group is still accepting donations via its website and has no updated its fundraising pitch to reflect Mrs. Clinton’s election defeat.
“We need your support. We stand for Progressive policies with Hillary Clinton as President and a Progressive Congress to implement them,” reads the donation page. “Your contributions will help ensure that we have everything we need to reach voters and mobilize support for the woman we all know is ready to do the job and to attract attention to the issues that we know are important to her and us. Your support is absolutely critical.”
