Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas tried to take the high road at the outset of the Republican presidential debate in Florida Thursday night.
“This election, this debate is not about insults, its’s not about attacks,” Mr. Cruz said at the University of Miami. “This election is about you and your children.”
The appeal in his opening statement came after what many described as the Republicans’ nastiest debate last week.
