1| World Magazine’s 2016 Books of the Year
Have you ever been clobbered by a 2-by-4 plank? Our Books of the Year committee has come up with a 4-by-4, a shortlist of 16 books in four categories. Most of them smack readers hard. They challenge the conventional wisdom. They deal with difficult questions of persecution, community-building, cultural craziness, marriage, and more. Most also offer hope. Because we know our readers love to read, we’ve published a special books issue every summer at this time since 1999.

When we’re accustomed to seeing news in real time on our television screens and on our phones, it is sometimes easy to forget that the news we are viewing is real. At least 50 people—created in the image of God—were slaughtered in cold blood. Families who were waiting to see their loved ones are finding out that they will never see them again in this life. That ought to drive us to mourn.
3| Donald Trump Tells The Brody File: We Are A Judeo-Christian Nation |CBN
Donald Trump: “Well that’s the way it is, and we want freedom for everybody, and we want good things for everybody but everybody has to be cognizant of the fact that we need a safe country and that’s why I talk about radical Islam and terrorism. You know it’s a problem, you look at what’s going on in France today where they may cancel a big soccer tournament, you know it’s a major tournament because they don’t know if they have enough security to handle a potential threat; I guess threats have been made, and you look at whether it’s San Bernardino or Paris or all of these things or the World Trade Center, so we have to be smart, and we have to be vigilant and we have no choice.”
