These are great days to not be a Republican. They are also decisive days for the future of the nation. Contrary to the treatment they get from the mainstream media, the rural and poor white voters who support Donald Trump are totally justified in their anger about the state of our nation. The tragedy is that they are clearly choosing the wrong man for their redemption.

The GOP must now find a candidate who both appeals to their bloc and involves the most moderate elements of the party. The only thing the Republicans need in order to defeat Hillary Clinton is for their candidate to inspire respect in the voters. Sadly for Mrs. Clinton, her time was in 2008. The Democratic Party made a terrible mistake in choosing Barack Obama (who was not ready) then.

It is embarrassing to see people with excellent conservative credentials — such as House Speaker Paul Ryan, Sen. Marco Rubio and Mike Huckabee — supporting Mr. Trump. The party of Lincoln and Reagan deserves someone better.
