The Chicago Cubs broke a 108-year World Series drought with an epic Game 7 victory over Cleveland Indians, and outfielder Dexter Fowler was a big reason why.

The 30-year-old, who was a first-time All-Star this season, led off the Cubs’ 8-7 win in Game 7 with a home run, capping a three-homer, seven-RBI postseason.

Fowler cashed in this offseason, signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the arch rival St. Louis Cardinals.

Instead of ignoring the signing, the Cubs bid farewell in an incredibly respectful manner, tweeting: “You go, we go… forever. Thanks Champ”

The phrase comes from manager Joe Maddon, who used to tell Fowler that phrase before each of his at bats.
