If only super PAC donations were power coins, Hillary Clinton might have successfully morphed into the next president of the United States.
Variety magazine reported Thursday that “Power Rangers” creator Haim Saban and his wife Cheryl donated more than $2 million to a pro-Hillary Clinton Super PAC in the waning days of the presidential campaign.
The donations, made on Oct. 31 to Priorities USA Action, added to the $10 million the couple had already given the group earlier in the campaign.
Long a reliable and generous party donor — in 2002, Mr. Saban coughed up millions in “soft money” for the construction of a new Democratic National Committee (DNC) building — Mr. Saban also hosted various Clinton fundraisers for the former secretary of state and gave $5,400 directly to Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, the maximum allowed by law, Variety noted.
An Israeli-American, Mr. Saban has also been in the headlines lately for weighing in negatively on Rep. Keith Ellison’s bid to be the next DNC chairman.
“If you go back to his positions, his papers, his speeches, the way he has voted, he is clearly an anti-Semite, anti-Israel individual,” he said on Dec. 2 at a Brookings Institution forum, reported Variety. “Words matter and actions matter more. Keith Ellison would be a disaster for the relationship between the Jewish community and the Democratic Party.”
