PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh police officer has been injured while trying to put a stabbing victim with a warrant for his arrest into custody.

Police say officers responding to a reported carjacking Wednesday night found a 30-year-old man with stab wounds.

While at the scene, officers discovered the victim had an active warrant for his arrest.

When they tried to put the man into custody, they say he became combative.

Police say an officer was knocked to the ground and suffered a cut to her forehead.

Additional officers tried to use a Taser on the man, but they say he continued to resist. Then then deployed a K-9. The man was taken into custody and transported to a hospital, where he’s in serious but stable condition.

The officer is in good condition.
