ASHEBORO, N.C. (AP) - A man will serve at least 23 years in prison for killing someone who was lured to an Asheboro home hoping to see a child he believed was his.
Media outlets reported that 28-year-old Shaun Lundy pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder in the May 2012 death of 31-year-old John Morris.
Prosecutors say Morris’ burned remains were found outside Lundy’s home and there was evidence he had been attacked inside the living room.
Authorities say Morris came to Asheboro when 26-year-old Jessica Summey told him he could visit her child that Morris thought he had fathered.
Summey is awaiting trial, and as part of his plea deal, Lundy agreed to testify in her case.
Lundy was sentenced to 23 years to 29 years in prison.
