It’s the latest crazy in retail: so-called “pop-up” shops that do business in an urban location for a limited time only, thereby making their shops must-visit locations given such a tight time frame.
The Tie Bar DC in Northwest has come to the District just in time for the holiday shopping season, offering high-quality menswear at rather reasonable rates. The Chicago-based retailer offers a catalog of ties, tie bars, kerchiefs and pocket fabric for the discerning customer this season.
And this being the capital, the shop has cleverly arranged the shop to reflect the District’s sometimes-bitter partisan divide: Walking in, the shopper finds red accessories to the right and blue to the left, thereby helpfully directing party affiliates upon entering.
The shop will host a grand opening Wednesday evening at The Shay, located at 1939 9th St. NW, with cocktails and appetizers to go along with the shop’s display of accessories. To RSVP, email Michael Corrigan at michael.corrigan@thetiebar.com.
