FRIDLEY, Minn. (AP) - An 11-year-old Minnesota boy with a rare form of melanoma is heading to the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll.

Graham Trocke-Fowler of Fridley received on Thursday a signed letter from President Barack Obama and an invitation to the event. KMSP-TV reports Graham, his mom and three siblings will travel to Washington, D.C., for the Easter Egg Roll on April 6.

The invitation stems from a class assignment Graham’s older brother sent to the president last year, detailing the 11-year-old’s effort to raise money for children’s cancer research.

Within the past year, Graham has collected about $34,000 by making and selling rubber bracelets.

He’s currently cancer-free after undergoing 14 surgeries.
