University of Oklahoma President David Boren expelled two students Tuesday after a video surfaced of a campus fraternity chanting racial slurs.
Mr. Boren has not disclosed the students’ names, but identified them as leaders in the scandal. He said Monday during a student-organized rally that the school would not tolerate racist behavior.
Calling the students’ actions “disgraceful” and “reprehensible,” he said he would be “glad” if the students left the university.
“I might even pay the bus fare for them,” Mr. Boren said.
The school has already cut ties with the fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, closing it down and ordering all students to move out. SAE’s national organization also said they were shutting down the university chapter.
A video recorded of the fraternity showed students chanting a highly offensive song, which used the N-word and referenced lynching.
