NEW YORK (AP) — Three dozen homeless pets and their rescuers have received a blessing from New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

CBS New York (https://cbsloc.al/1qSiGvo ) says the Tuesday event outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral marked the start of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Workers and volunteers from the Mayor’s Alliance for New York City Animals and the Humane Society brought the dogs, cats and a rabbit.

All of them - and others like them - are available for adoption.
