ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 33-year-old St. Louis man faces first-degree assault charges after an early-morning bar fight in the city’s Carondolet neighborhood.
Andrew Lynn Barnett was charged Friday with felony assault and armed criminal action after the Thursday morning stabbing of 32-year-old Kristopher Schmeiderer outside the Little Bar on the city’s south side. Police say Barnett attacked the other man after an argument inside the bar late Wednesday night.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1j4kflG ) reports that Schmeiderer, a father of three young children, is on a ventilator and is paralyzed from the neck down after he was stabbed in the neck and abdomen, causing damage to his pancreas and diaphragm. Homicide investigators initially handled the case.
