ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico man convicted of raping a woman in Shiprock four years ago has been sentenced to 12 ½ years in federal prison.

Prosecutors say 27-year-old Myron Jim Harry, of Hogback, also was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years of supervised release.

He must register as a sex offender after he completes his prison term.

Harry was arrested and indicted shortly after the incident, which authorities say occurred on May 6, 2010.

Evidence at trial showed that Harry and several other people celebrated the victim’s birthday in a Shiprock apartment.

Early the next morning, Harry was accused of entering the woman’s bedroom and sexually assaulting her.

A federal jury found Harry guilty of sexual assault last May after a four-day trial.
