BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A former postal official has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for bribery, fraud and tax offenses and ordered to pay restitution and tax charges of more than $1 million.

At his sentencing Friday a judge also ordered Robert Giulietti of Cheshire to forfeit assets including $740,000 seized from bank accounts.

Prosecutors say Giulietti, a former facilities project manager for the U.S. Postal Service in Windsor, admitted accepting about $89,000 from two contractors to direct inflated postal facilities construction contracts to them.

Authorities say Giulietti that between 2009 and 2011 he also directed more than 150 postal contracts to a company he formed and engaged other contractors to do the work, costing the postal service nearly $1 million. Authorities say Giulietti also filed false income tax returns.

He pleaded guilty in February.
